Athens to Lefkas

There are many ways to do this, and it also depends on whether
you are coming from the airport, the Port of Pireaus, or the city of Athens.

From
Athens Airport to Lefkas

By internal domestic flight
Olympic operate flights to Preveza Airport. There are flights three days per
week in winter and usually seven days per week in the summer. However, the
connection times are often not good and it may be faster to travel by road.

By Public Bus from Athens to Lefkas
The buses to Lefkas go from Kiffisus Bus Station in Athens.
From Athens Aitport to Kiffisus Bus Station. Take Airport Express Bus
number 93. Price 2.90 Euros. Journey time about 1 hour. The bus is about
every 60 - 90 minutes from midnight to 5.00am, and every 30 - 40 minutes at
other times. The other way to travel is by taxi. Journey time about 50
minutes. Price 20 - 30 Euros.
From Central Athens to Kiffisus Bus Station. Take bus 051 from
Menandrou Street near Omonia Square (click HERE
for map). Every 20 minutes. Journey time about 20 minutes. If you are
looking for a convenient hotel in central Athens try the Hotel
Epidavros.
At Kiffisus Bus Station, there is a Ticket Counter just for Lefkada. It opens
about one hour before the bus leaves. There are about 4 buses per day. Click
HERE for times. The adult price is 22.50 Euros. Your seat number is shown on your ticket (but not usually on
the seat!). The Lefkada platform is ahead and to
the right. The buses usually leave exactly on time. They are non-stop
except for a short ferry crossing half way, so bring a snack and drink, and
go to the toilet first! The journey time is between 5 - 6 hours.
Buses arrive at Lefkas Town Bus Station, and from there you can take other
buses or a taxi to other parts of the Island.

By Taxi
This is a fast and easy way of getting directly from the airport to Lefkas,
door to door, and between a group of people it is not much more than the
bus. It can take less time than waiting for the internal flight. The journey

the Port of Pireaus to Lefkas

Bus
It is hardly worth the trouble of traveling all the way to Athens airport to
fly to Preveza. You might as well take the public bus as it will usually be
as fast and less things can go wrong. To do this, take an Athens taxi to Kiffisus Bus Station. Or take the Metro to Omonia Square (20 minutes), walk
300 metres to Zinonos Street, and take Bus 051 to Kifisou Bus Station (about
another 20 minutes). Then follow the instructions above to buy a ticket.

Central Athens to Lefkas

domestic Olympic flight
See above. You can fly to Preveza Airport from Athens Airport. To get to
Athens Airport from central Athens you can either take an Athens taxi (about
40 minutes depending on traffic) or an airport express bus (3 routes, E94,
E95, E96 from Syntagma Square and Pireaus, one hour or more depending on
traffic).

Bus
Either take a taxi to Kiffisus Bus Station and then follow the instructions
above. Alternatively, take a bus or Metro to Omonia Square. Then go to the
bus stop for Bus 051. This is at the corner of Zinonos and Menandrou
Streets, about 300 metres from the Metro Station. Buses are about every 20
minutes and the journey time is about 20 minutes.

By Taxi
If you are travelling from the Hotel
Epidavros or one of the well known hotels in Athens then you can
prebook a taxi to take you 'door to door' to your destination in Lefkas.
